A man is in custody after armed police swooped in on two locations in Ramsgate.
Police say both incidents – one in Princess Margaret Avenue, Newington, and the other in Ramsgate town centre – were linked.
Officers armed with protective shields raided a house near to the Spar shop in Newington at about 4pm yesterday.
Police responded to an alert of a person being seen with a weapon and making verbal threats.
They have confirmed the people involved are known to each other and state that no weapon has been recovered.
As well as at least three armed officers, a dog unit was also deployed at Newington.
A similar response was sent out to the town centre.
Police say they received a call at 11.53am before descending on both areas.
A spokesman said: "Officers, including armed officers, in the area of Newcastle Hill, Ramsgate, arrested a man at around 9pm in connection with an earlier report.
"The report was received at 11.53am and stated a man had been seen with a weapon and verbally threatened another man who was known to him.
"He remains in custody as enquiries continue."
No injuries have been reported.
