It's the mystery that's keeping everyone guessing - who is Maria?

Signs declaring undying love to the so far unidentified woman have been popping up around Thanet , with some including marriage proposals and even hinting at some kind of fall out.

Always written in red, the signs include 'Maria, I love you, we can work it out' and 'Maria, will you marry me' with some red roses thrown in for good measure.

Popular Indian restaurant Secret Spices in Margate has even got involved in the fun, offering a complimentary meal to the mystery woman.

Rukshana Begum, who handles the social media accounts for her brother Raj Ali's restaurant, says they will definitely give a free meal to the real Maria.

"The hard bit will be being able to identify the real one," she admitted.

"Anyone could say they are Maria so we'd need to work out if they are genuine.

"With all the doom and gloom at the moment we just thought it would be a bit of fun to get involved.

"Our customers know us, they know we're bubbly and fun, and we get much better engagement having a sense of humour rather than being formal on our business page.

"We just wanted to lighten the mood."

Speculation has been rife on social media, with some claiming to either know or be Maria.

Others are desperate for her to reveal herself.
