A secondary school has sent its entire Year 7 school group home to isolate following a confirmed case of Covid-19.
Parents of children at Hartsdown Academy in Margate were sent a letter explaining the situation after a pupil tested positive for the virus.
Head teacher Matthew Tate confirmed there has been a Covid-19 case and that all pupils from the five Year 7 classes have been asked to go home.
"In line with Public Health England advice this morning we have sent the whole of Year 7 home," he said.
"They will return to school in 14 days."
"A small number of staff who have been in close contact with the pupil who tested positive for coronavirus are also at home self-isolating.
"We know that you might find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well," Mr Tate added.
