A man has been arrested after a woman suffered burns in a suspected attack with an aerosol can and lighter.

Police were called to the incident in Margate, which happened on the beach off Marine Terrace, on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 15.

The woman, who is in her 30s, is also reported to have been hit with a crutch.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail pending further inquiries until Thursday, August 30.

He and the victim are believed to be known to on another.
