Woman dies in house fire in Ramsgate on Christmas Eve

A woman in her nineties has died following a house fire on Christmas Eve.

Four fire crews were called to the blaze at Dorothy Drive in Ramsgate, at 2.15pm on Tuesday.

The fire was extinguished by 4.40pm, but sadly, it has now been confirmed that a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kent Police said: “We were called at 3.05pm to the scene of a fire in Dorothy Drive, that had been extinguished by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

“Officers attended the premises where a woman in her 90s was confirmed to be deceased.

“Her death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

The victim’s next of kin has been informed.
