A woman who ploughed her car into her boyfriend after a row and left him fighting for his life has been jailed for a year.
Kimberly Lawson, of Vicarage Place, Margate, had been out with her partner Paul Ioannou in the town on August 24 last year when the pair got into an argument.
The 29-year-old got into her Peugeot at 3am in the High Street and drove at him, with experts putting her speed at between 39 and 45mph in the 30mph zone.
A witness heard Mr Ioannou shout ‘stop!’ before being hit and he was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Lawson was arrested at the scene where she told officers she did not mean to hit him.
She appeared at Canterbury Crown Court where she pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was jailed for one year and banned from driving for three years and six months.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Tristan Kluibenschadl said Mr Ioannou was fortunate to survive.
"A car in the wrong hands is a deadly weapon and the custodial sentence imposed by the court will offer Lawson time to reflect on her actions," he said.
