A woman was injured when she fell from the first floor during a fire at a Ramsgate block of flats on Monday evening. (February 14)
The blaze at Kennedy House on Newcastle Hill happened shortly before 5pm in the 16-floor, 70-metre-high building.
Because the building is "high rise," it was dealt with as major incident by Kent Fire and Rescue and attended by eight fire appliances.
The woman was conscious and breathing after the fall and treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to hospital.
First floor residents were evacuated and have been rehoused by Thanet Council.
Fire crews gained access via a balcony.
A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Thanks to aggressive firefighting by crews the fire did not spread and was contained to the first floor flat."
The blaze was initially tackled by fire crews from Ramsgate, Margate and Westgate with additional support provided by Thanet (westwood), the height vehicle from Canterbury and firefighters from Eastry, Herne Bay and Deal.
Police attended and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Earlier Thanet firefighters had been called to deal with a small electrical fire in a shop in Broadstairs High Street.
