A woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being found unconscious in a street.

Police were called to Northdown Road, Cliftonville at 8pm last night.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains and her condition is described as serious.

The road remained cordoned off for 12 hours to allow officers to investigate.

The closure has since been lifted.
