A woman has died in hospital after being pulled from the sea.

Police and ambulance crews helped her after an alert was raised that she was in the sea just before 8am on Friday.

Rescuers were called out amid concerns for her safety at Minnis Bay in Birchington.

The woman, who was believed to be in her sixties. was treated at the scene and then taken to the QEQM hospital at 10am, where she died later that day.

Police are not treating her death as suspicious and her next of kin have been informed.
