A year group at a school has been sent home after a pupil tested positive for Covid-19.
All Year 2 children at St Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School, in Ramsgate , will now isolate and and complete their learning remotely until next Wednesday.
The pupil to have tested positive for coronavirus is not showing any symptoms.
The school says it was alerted by Public Health England of the confirmed case on Friday afternoon.
Senior management teams at the school have now decided to close the year group's bubble, which is made up for one class, as a precaution.
Staff working in the Year 2 class have also been sent home and are isolating.
Head teacher Simon Marshall said: “I can confirm that unfortunately a pupil in Year Two has tested positive for Covid-19.
"Children are receiving work at home and staff are supporting them with learning remotely.
“The rest of the school remains open with staff and pupils continuing to follow Public Health England guidance in terms of social distancing, handwashing and cleaning to minimise the spread of the virus and ensure everyone can continue to learn and work in a safe environment.
"I would like to thank staff, parents and carers and our pupils for their support and understanding during this difficult time."
