Yorkshire Tea and floral bouquets featuring the county's white rose emblem heralded the latest addition to Broadstairs High Street.

Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) welcomed new and existing customers on Saturday (January 16) when it opened the doors to its new agency office at Investaco.

Cllr Mave Saunders, the Mayor of Broadstairs and St Peter's, performed the official opening, while local residents entered a competition to win prizes ranging from bottles of champagne to YBS teddy bears.

Jim Cook, managing director of Investaco, said he was "delighted" to join the building society's network of more than 200 branches and agencies.

Liz Morelli, a development manager at YBS, added: "Many people value professional face to face advice when considering financial products, which is why we consider a high street presence to be just as important as telephone and internet channels."
