Nikki Bull says he has no doubt the 'proper' Margate will turn up on Saturday as they bid to retain their Vanarama National League South status.

The Gate's 4-3 home win over Hemel Hempstead last weekend ended a 10-match losing run and put their fate firmly in their own hands on final day.

The Blues go into the match 18th, on 47 points, one clear of St Albans, two ahead of Havant & Waterlooville, and three in front of Hayes & Yeading. Bath are immediately above Margate but are already safe on 50 points.

Havant could move ahead of the Blues if they win their game in hand, at home to Truro City, on Thursday but Gate boss Bull says he is not worrying at all about what the sides around them do.

He explained: "On Saturday it's in our own hands which is all we can ask for and if we approach the game in the same way we did against Hemel, and play with the same intensity and edge I have no doubts we will get the result.

"Suddenly it's a game everyone wants to play in. It's like the players have got their mojo back.

"We all know what's happened (off the field over the past couple of months) but all of that was put to one side against Hemel and I've no doubt the proper Margate will turn up at Bath."

Bull said he knew after last Thursday's training session that Gate would beat Hemel, but admits the win also left him reflecting on what might have been had the departure of chairman/owner Bob Laslett not happened mid-season.

He added: "In some ways it was frustrating, when you witnessed the first 65 minutes and how the boys performed, it all seemed to click but ,after putting in a performance like that it did make me wonder what might have been if it had not been for the outside influences.

"It's been a dreadful season for the club, there's no hiding that, and I'm sure there will be twists and turns on Saturday but as long as we're still in Vanarama South at five o'clock on that's all that matters."
