Several Isthmian League matches involving Kent football clubs which were due to be played this week have been postponed as the fuel situation worsens.

Folkestone and Margate, in Isthmian Premier, have seen their respective home clashes scheduled to be played on Tuesday night called off while plenty of Isthmian South East games are now set to be rescheduled, too.

It comes after various petrol stations across the county ran dry over the weekend amid frenzied panic buying, leading to the league offering away teams the option to request matches to be postponed on Sunday.

Jay Saunders' Margate side, who beat Enfield 2-1 on Saturday, were meant to welcome East Thurrock to Hartsdown Park, with Neil Cugley’s Folkestone due to be hosting Hornchurch.

A Ben Greenhalgh effort and a late winner from Martial Godo earned Gate the points against East Thurrock while Invicta raced into a three-goal lead as striker Ian Draycott made history as he converted a penalty to become Folkestone's record goalscorer on 142 goals, only for Potters Bar to hit back in the 3-3 draw.

Margate are not in action again now until Tuesday, October 5 when they visit Corinthian-Casuals, Folkestone are due to host National League North outfit Gloucester City in the FA Cup this Saturday.

Derbies in Isthmian South East have also been postponed this Tuesday.

These include Faversham v Hythe, Herne Bay v Ramsgate and Sittingbourne v Whitstable.

Ashford’s trip to Hastings United has also been called off.
