The number of players to have left Margate since the end of the season is up to eight after two more departed at the weekend.

Left-sided attacker Nathan Green and defender Charlie Wassmer are the latest to leave Hartsdown Park. Both have been released from their contracts a year early.

Christian Jolley and Jake Goodman both left by mutual consent last Tuesday, the same day it was announced Danny Green, Jamie Stuart, Kane Wills and Chris Lewington would not be returning next season.

Manager Nikki Bull praised the pair's contribution, adding: "Both Charlie and Nathan have been good servants to Margate but this is all part of the rebuilding process now but we wish them both well with their future endeavours.”

Matt Johnson remains the only player still under contract at Hartsdown while the futures of several others including Lewis Taylor, Luke Moore, Brett Johnson, David Hunt and Glenn Wilson have still to be resolved.

Former Tonbridge and Dagenham winger Green signed for Margate in June 2015, having rejected an offer to stay at Dartford for whom he made 15 appearances in the Vanarama Conference. The 23-year-old has also previously played for Lewes, Bromley, Kingstonian and St Albans.

Wassmer, 25, began his career at Hayes & Yeading, making his first team debut at the age of 19. From there he moved onto Crawley Town before a spell at Cambridge United.

He then rejoined Hayes & Yeading from whom the Gate signed him in February, 2014.
