Margate are still in there fighting for their Isthmian Premier future after winning their penultimate match of the season.

Mark Stimson’s side continued their late rally with a 2-1 home victory over fourth-placed Wingate & Finchley.

That moved them level on points with drop rivals Cheshunt, who play their game in hand at home to Horsham on Tuesday night.

A win for Cheshunt would effectively relegate Margate, given their considerable goal-difference advantage, but anything less and a final-day great escape could still be on for the Blues.

Jeremiah Pinder broke the deadlock against Wingate just after the break and while Ruben Carvalho levelled, Ben Greenhalgh scored a 68th-minute winner for Stimson’s men.

Clack scored from the spot shortly after the restart but Taylor completed his hat-trick to clinch victory.

Second-placed Cray Valley were also 4-2 winners as Herne Bay were put to the sword at Badgers.

Kyrell Lisbie, Sonny Black and Adam Coombes put the Millers 3-0 up after half an hour.
