Manager Tony Russell has left Ramsgate after just 25 days in charge.

The Isthmian South East club announced Russell’s departure along with assistant boss Joe Vines in a brief statement on Friday evening.

The club also cancelled their pre-season friendly against Kennington - which was due to be played at Southwood on Friday night - at the same time.

A statement from Ramsgate said: “Tony Russell and his management team have left Ramsgate Football Club with immediate effect.

“The application process for this role is now open. If you are interested in this position please e-mail chairman@ramsgate-fc.co.uk

“As a result of this tonight’s friendly vs Kennington is cancelled.”

Former Lewes boss Russell was only appointed by Ramsgate on June 10.

It’s been a busy few weeks at Ramsgate, who were pipped to the Isthmian South East title by Cray Valley at the end of April.

The Rams were then knocked out of the play-offs at the semi-final stage, leaving then manager Ben Smith to launch a scathing attack on his players.

Smith’s future at the club for the 2024/25 season was then confirmed, only for Ramsgate to part ways with their boss a month later and swiftly appoint Russell to the hot seat.
