Lloyd Blackman is setting no limits or boundaries on what Ramsgate can achieve in the final two months of the Ryman League, Division 1 South season.
A play-off spot maybe beyond them but a 3-1 win over top-five contenders South Park at Reigate on Saturday – their sixth win in eight matches – maintained Rams’ impressive recent run.
Head coach Blackman said; “How far can we go is something we are asking ourselves.
“You never say never about anything in football but in reality, if we gained a top-10 finish it would be an extraordinary achievement, considering where we were seven weeks ago.
“There are no limits or boundaries. There is a good level of confidence in the squad, our preparation and organisation is good and it’s a case of focusing on the next game.”
Goals by Alfie Paxman, substitute Sam Lawford and Aaron Millbank earned Rams their fourth win in six games on their travels, leaving them fifth in the away form table.
Blackman said: “It was a tough game against a side who are a quite physical team who can certainly can play but mix-it as well.
“Our boys stood up to it well and were a real credit.
“We were under the cosh for the opening 10-15 minutes but our goalkeeper Luke Watkins made three or four great saves in the first half and we built confidence from that.”
Blackman is setting great stall on doing homework on the opposition, building a network of contacts which are proving useful.
“We have scouts and links with managers and players whose information needs to be used in a way that is beneficial, with our boys needing to be wired in.
“The next challenge for us is Dorking Wanderers, who with Tooting, look like the two teams who are going to fight out the title.
“They aren’t invincible though, and have lost a couple at home recently, notably against Three Bridges and Herne Bay.”
Rams will check on Tom Chapman’s fitness, who picked up a hamstring problem at South Park.
