Margate manager Terry Brown admits he is concerned after two wins in 14 games in National League South

Margate boss Terry Brown admits he is 'certainly concerned' about Gate's record of two wins in 14 games this season and revealed club officials share his concern.

Brown is now planning a 'juggling act' to ensure the club can bring in new attacking talent, as he admits he is 'unable to come up with a formula that works.'

He is however wary of asking the board for extra funds as he claims: "(We have) sufficient funds to be better than we are."

Gate slipped back to fourth-bottom, just two points off the foot of National League South following the 2-1 defeat at Truro City on Saturday, and though they did manage their 12th goal in 14 games through Kane Wills late on, only one side has scored fewer in the division.

Brown admitted: "We desperately needed a point. I think if we'd managed to come away with a point after a pretty lacklustre first half I would have been pleased.

"I was pleased with the work ethic and character we showed and we finally made their keeper make some saves.

"We played some pretty attractive stuff too but it doesn't matter an iota how you play, our keeper still had to make more saves than theirs."

He added: "These are reoccurring themes within our game. I have tried a number of permutations, now and again I have tried to change the team to try and come up with a formula that worked - I haven't come up with a formula that worked.

"Once you've tried all the permutations you either go back to square one and start again or you bring a bit of fresh blood in. I'll endeavour to see if we can freshen the squad up a bit."

Once again Brown's thoughts turned to a goalscorer, as he claimed: "We haven't really had one within the club this year so either I need to convert one of our forwards into a goalscorer or we need to get some new blood in."

Brown however warned: "I've been in this game 30-odd years and I can't just pick the phone up tomorrow and get one. Nobody lets goalscorers go unless you have got bundles of money. I'm not in a position where I want to be going and asking the chairman for more funds.

"He's given me sufficient funds to be better than what we are so it may well have to be a juggling act - maybe loan some out to loan some in. We may well look at the loan market at a higher level."

He added: "If I could pick a goalscorer from somewhere that would make a massive difference to us - I know we conceded two but we just don't score goals really. We're among the worst goalscorers in the league.an that's why we are where we are in the league."

Brown was seen deep in conversation with club officials after the game at Treyew Road and he revealed: "They are obviously concerned that we've won two games by the end of October. If I was 'a suit' I'd be concerned and I am certainly concerned myself."
