On-loan Dartford midfielder Cameron Brodie has found form at Margate but manager Andy Drury is warning there’s even more to come from him!

Brodie has three goals in three games for the Isthmian Premier club having most recently struck on Saturday in their Isthmian Premier 5-2 home defeat to Enfield.

Gate, who have also signed striker Korrey Henry recently, have extended Brodie’s loan.

“Cameron, obviously, has got three goals. We have extended that loan spell for another month,” said Drury.

“Over this month, I think he will grow. He’s a really infectious player for us.

“I think we will see a better Cameron Brodie in the second month - and he was good for us in the first month!”

Henry joined in time for their weekend match at Hartsdown Park, coming off the bench in the second half, while Drury named himself on the bench. But Kieron McCann left last week.

On one-time West Ham and Yeovil man Henry, Drury, who is hoping to make another couple of signings this week, said: “He scored 14 goals for a struggling Merstham side so I think he's a good signing.”

Against Enfield, Brodie broke the deadlock but Gate eventually were comfortably beaten despite a second-half Harry Hudson strike.

But Margate’s manager was without Lewis Knight, Ade Cole, Troy Howard and Fjord Rogers through injury while illness hit the camp in the build-up to the game too.

Drury reflected: “I’m not negative. The first 55 minutes, I thought we were outstanding.

“We went 1-0 up and their first goal was a fluke goal. But we got the second after half-time.

“I thought we might be able to kick on, but it’s fallen to their player in the box [for their second] and the third is a bit of a fluke as well. Sometimes it’s hard to say, but, for 55 minutes, we were really good.

“Friday afternoon, we had 10 players fit for the game. So I think we looked a bit tired by the end.”

Margate tonight visit Isthmian South East Faversham in the Kent Senior Cup before a league trip to Aveley this Saturday.

Drury said: “It’s a cup we want to do well in, we will be as strong as we can be.

“We will look to get a result and move on in the cup.”

Midfielder Montrell Deslandes is back from suspension, defender Knight and striker Rogers may be fit to return at Salters Lane, and a new recruit could be signed in time as well.

Margate have been drawn away to fellow Isthmian Premier outfit Billericay in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy this week.
