Isthmian Premier Margate have appointed their new manager.
Reece Prestedge has been in joint-interim charge with captain Ben Greenhalgh since Andy Drury’s Boxing Day departure.
Prestedge has now been placed in charge until the end of the season while influential midfielder Greenhalgh - formerly of Inter Milan, Inverness, Maidstone, Tonbridge and Dartford among other clubs - takes up a player-assistant manager role.
Margate picked up their first league win on Saturday under Greenhalgh and Prestedge, beating Wingate & Finchley 3-1 at Hartsdown Park in front of a crowd of 396.
Chairman Ricky Owen told Gate's website: “Reece and Ben stepped in at a difficult time and we appreciate all the hard work they have put in to date.
“They have brought a togetherness to the squad through their strong relationship with the players.
“As a board, we hope they can kick on from Saturday and we will continue to back them to improve the squad if they so wish.”
Midfielders Sam Blackman and Ade Cole gave the hosts a half-time lead against Wingate and, while Dernell Wynter got one back, striker Phil Roberts made the game safe for 16th-placed Gate.
Former midfielder Prestedge initially rejoined the club in October as Drury's No.2.
Margate tomorrow (Wednesday) visit Kingstonian before Saturday’s trip to Hastings.
