Mike Sandmann believes Margate will have nothing to lose when they travel to Concord Rangers in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday.
The Essex side, managed by former Leatherhead boss Sammy Moore, are 13th in National League South, one one level above the Blues, and joint boss Sandmann knows his side will start as underdogs.
There will be an extra edge to the tie given that The Beachboys tried to sign some of Margate's players during the summer.
Sandmann said: "All the pressure on Saturday will be on them. They're in the league above and Sammy Moore has recruited some very good players.
"They've started okay (four wins, three draws, three defeats) but they'll maybe be a bit disappointed not to have done better because they want to be pushing for the play-offs.
"We know they've got good players but we'll get a report on them from various sources, and sit down later in the week to come up with a game plan.
"They tried to sign some of our boys in the summer so this is an opportunity for those players and the rest of the squad to show that they are good enough to play at the next level."
Margate will approach the tie in confident mood after moving up to seventh in the Bostik Premier by ending Worthing's unbeaten start on Saturday.
Striker Joe Taylor claimed the decisive goal, heading home Lee Prescott's 67th minute free-kick to claim his third goal in two starts.
The free-kick followed a foul by Worthing's Aarran Racine, for whom the offence was his second in as many minutes, resulting in a red card.
The Gate had been forced to into two first-half substitutions after losing experienced pair Tom Wynter (calf) and James Rogers (knee), both of whom will miss the Concord tie.
Rogers is awaiting a scan to discover the extent of his problem.
Worthing also missed a 77th minute penalty when Ollie Pearce's effort hit the post.
Sandmann explained: "It was tight game which didn't really change that much after they had gone down to 10.
"They had a lot of the ball but we planned for that and they didn't really cause us too many problems apart from when they started throwing men forward at the end.
"The workrate and discipline of the players was excellent, we were very professional and disciplined."
Ben Swift came on as Wynter's early replacement and Sandmann was delighted with the centre-half's contribution. There was also a half-hour cameo from new signing Leroy Lita.
Sandmann added: "Ben was disappointed not to start but his attitude when he came on was excellent and a credit to him.
"Leroy did really well in an unfamiliar role (just behind Taylor). He's an experienced ex Premier League striker but he was happy just to come on and do a job for the team."
Gate had some good news this week when long-term injury victim Alex Flisher was cleared for a return to training but Alex Brown's prospects are far less encouraging.
A scan on his injured knee has revealed a tear to his ACL and he now misses the rest of the season.
