Stonelees Golf Centre are rewarding all their members who have stayed loyal to the centre during the Covid-19 crisis, writes Kevin Redsull.
The members have received money on their bar cards to spend on any of the various facilities at the centre, as well as a handwritten “thank you” note for their loyalty.
Suzannah Chapman, the centre’s general manager, said: “Although at our heart we are an inclusive, pay and play golf centre we have a very special group of members as well.
“And, back in March, our members were just starting to renew their membership for the coming season when lockdown happened.”
With the future of the centre uncertain, staff put on furlough and the doors closed to the public, Chapman was amazed by what happened next.
She said: “The phone rang, and then rang again, and just kept on ringing. Members were choosing to renew their membership despite not knowing whether the centre would ever open again.
“They told us they wanted to support the centre and all our staff and to make sure there was a golf course to return to once lockdown was eased.
“I was so humbled by people’s kindness, it brought me to tears, and these members are now on our own ‘heroes’ list. They will forever be special to Stonelees and we hope to offer a bigger, better thank you to them once this is all over.”
