Chris Dyas of Margate-based The Falcons Kickboxing Club has been celebrating area championship success.
Dyas got the better of reigning title holder and the more-experienced Sebastian Krawczyk by a unanimous verdict in the 70kg class at the World Kickboxing Organisation Cyclone 13 show in Essex.
“I’m so very proud of what my team has achieved,” said club instructor Mark White.
“Putting their lives on hold for eight weeks prior to the fight, training six-days-a-week, is not easy.
“They have shown great dedication and determination, and I couldn’t ask for any more which was shown on the night.”
The first round started with both men trying to find their range, which Dyas did quickly with hard body shots which were clearly hurting his opponent.
Round after round the Falcons fighter stuck to his game plan, attacking the body with kicks and punches then moving upstairs when the time was right.
Krawczyk didn’t allow Dyas to have it all his own way and caught him with some big head shots.
Over five two-minute rounds both men never gave up but Dyas was the stronger of the two to take the title.
