Margate have signed former Premier League and England Under-21 striker Leroy Lita.
The much travelled 33-year-old became their third signing of the week after the earlier arrivals of George Brown, from Colchester, and Stephen Okoh, from Stranraer.
Lita, who watched the Gate's home game against Tonbridge last month, comes to Hartsdown Park having recently returned from playing abroad for Thai side Sisaket in the T1 League.
He will be available to play from September 10 after receiving international clearance on Saturday morning.
Gate joint boss Mike Sandmann said: “It’s fantastic to have a player with Leroy’s experience joining the already talented group of lads we have. It’s another attacking option that will give the team and the supporters a lift.”
Margate vice-chairman Ricky Owen added: "This is a massive boost for the club and supporters as Leroy has a history with the club. His appearance at the Tonbridge created a real buzz with the fans.”
Born in Kinshasa, Zaire Lita made his professional debut in 2002 for Bristol City, scoring 31 goals in 85 games. He managed 20 in 83 appearances for Reading and the same number in 78 matches for Middlesbrough.
He has also played for Charlton Athletic, Swansea, Bimingham City and Sheffield Wednesday.
