Steve Lovell is considering his options in attack as the goals dry up for league leaders Ramsgate.
Only Ashford have scored more than Rams’ 37 goals this season but Lovell’s men have found the net harder to come by in recent weeks.
Since an impressive 3-1 win at Whitehawk in mid-December, Rams have scored only four goals in their past five Isthmian South East games, despite creating plenty of chances.
They drew 1-1 with Sittingbourne last weekend - ex-Brickies striker Kane Rowland on target against his old club - and Lovell needs Rams to rediscover their free-scoring ways.
That might mean looking at the market to help his existing forwards.
“Defensively we’ve been quite sound but our attacking players haven’t been on it for the last two or three games,” said Lovell.
“It’s like I said to the boys after the game, we’ve got to kill teams off.
“We had two or three chances to do that against Sittingbourne and didn’t take them.
“When you get opportunities in games, you’ve got to take them. We’re not firing on all cylinders at the moment and it might be something we look at.
“We might need to freshen it up and bring a couple in to keep the other boys on their toes.
“I’m happy with the squad but we’re always on the look-out. We need to start producing again, we need to be scoring goals and doing what we did earlier in the season.
"We haven’t really done anything all season regarding getting players in because we’ve been winning games and when you’re winning you don’t need to.
“I don’t want to drop off but there are times in a season where players do lose a bit of form and you’ve got to have players to come in and replace them if they’re not performing like they should do.”
Ramsgate won’t be able to call on Jordan Chiedozie, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.
The prolific striker returned to Southwood last summer, having been released by ex-boss Matt Longhurst while leading the scoring charts.
But injury has restricted his involvement and Lovell can’t see him playing again this season.
“I think he needs another op,” said the manager, whose side host Burgess Hill this Saturday (3pm).
“It’s unfortunate because he started the season well for us.
“He needs to get his knee sorted. I don’t think he’ll play again this season but I’d like to have him back in the summer.”
