A former player has been appointed as Margate’s new assistant manager.
Ex-midfielder Reece Prestedge, who first arrived at Hartsdown Park in 2019, replaces James Scott who had been Andy Drury’s No.2 this season but left after their 3-1 Isthmian Premier loss at 10-man Aveley on Saturday.
Prestedge joins after spells with Welling, Bromley and Maidstone, as well as a host of other clubs.
After calling time on his playing career, he took up a first-team coach position in Jay Saunders’ management team and, despite leaving this summer to take up another coaching role, he now returns.
“It's great to have Reece back involved at the club. He knows the place inside out and has worked with some of the boys here before,” Drury told the club website.
“I felt, after the weekend, I wanted to make some changes within my own staff and once I knew that Reece was up for it, then it was a no-brainer really.”
On Twitter, Prestedge wrote: "[It's a] pleasure to be back #upthegate."
Margate are due to host Haringey in the league tomorrow (Tuesday) night before an FA Trophy trip to league rivals Billericay this Saturday.
