Margate have named Nikki Bull as their new manager until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper has been overseeing team affairs since the departure of Terry Brown, and will be in charge for the first time in the Vanarama National South home game against Gosport on Saturday.
He will combine both roles and will be assisted by coach Jamie Stuart.
Margate chief executive Chris Pope said: "The board considered a number of options.
"Nikki's enthusiasm for the role and his positive impact on team morale over the last week was a major influence on our decision.
"The requisite skills of our manager are to galvanise and motivate the squad, something Nikki has made great strides in addressing this past week. The pressure is now on to turn his infectious enthusiasm into positive results on the pitch."
Speaking last week, Bull said: "I am going to put my heart and soul into it, full-time 24/7.
"I am young and want the job because I want to be successful."
Pope held a meeting with the squad over the weekend who all expressed their support and desire to see Bull in the top job, a view ultimately shared by the board.
Mr Pope said: "Everyone believes in Nikki and Jamie. They have been part of the club for the past three seasons and have the full support of the board, fans, and our sponsors.
"We wish Nikki and Jamie the best of luck in their first game against Gosport."
