Three goals in the space of eight second-half minutes earned Margate a long overdue first Vanarama National South home win over Havant and Waterlooville on a wet and windy afternoon in Thanet.
Freddie Ladapo got the first two, before Solomon Taiwo headed in the third, to put Gate firmly in control against the Hampshire visitors, who are without a win on their travels this season.
Luke Moore then added the fourth with a stoppage-time penalty.
Ladapo put Gate in front a minute after the break, firing home after Kane Wills' shot had been beaten out by Hawks goalkeeper Ryan Young.
The big striker doubled the tally eight minutes later as Gate turned defence in attack, Moore putting Ladapo in to finish with a low shot.
Gate fans were still celebrating that one when Solomon Taiwo headed in the third a minute later, to turn the game completely in Gate's favour.
Warren Cummings pulled one back with 13 minutes left. Christian Jolley had a fourth ruled out for offside in stoppage-time, before Moore rolled in a penalty after substitute Jamie Taylor was felled in the box.
Earlier, Jolley headed inches over the bar, while Ladapo had three good chances to put Gate in front in the first half.
He chested one towards goal, with Young tipping the ball over the bar, fired another into the side netting, and failed to get any power into his first effort inside the box.
Taiwo provided two great openings with free-kicks, then tried his luck with a left-footed effort over the bar, while Wills put another wide.
Matt Paterson went close twice for the visitors, while Scott Donnelly fired wide.
