Margate have announced that chief executive and vice-chairman Chris Pope has resigned from his two roles with immediate effect.
Mr Pope first came to the club as commercial manager in September 2014, and was then appointed chief executive by owner/chairman Bob Laslett in March 2015.
Mr Laslett stepped down due to health grounds last month, after which Mr Pope was appointed vice-chairman, a role he combined with that of CEO.
He also held a 10% shareholding in the Vanarama National League South club although it is likely he has now given that up.
Last month allegations surfaced that there had been a dressing room confrontation between some of the players and Mr Pope after a 1-0 home defeat to Concord on Easter Monday.
Of his time at Hartsdown Mr Pope said: “I have loved my time at Margate Football Club and have many success stories to look back on.
"I would like to thank the previous chairman Bob Laslett for giving me a great opportunity and I wish John Webb (the new owner/chairman) and everyone connected with the club all the very best.”
Mr Webb added: "I would like to thank Chris for all his endeavours. Margate Football Club would like to wish Chris all the best for the future."
Mr Pope arrived at Hartsdown having previously worked at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Birmingham City and Leyton Orient.
The club have announced lifelong fan Ryan Day as the new Chief Executive.
The 25-year-old has been responsible for the club's Media department for the past two years but Mr Webb said: “I am delighted that Ryan has taken on this opportunity at the Club.
"We all know how much Ryan cares about the club and his desire and passion will help him succeed in this role.”
Day added: “It is an honour to be asked by John to take on this very important role within the Club.
“It is a new challenge for me but one that I will work on 24/7 to ensure the very best for MFC."
