Ramsgate have made another statement of intent to the rest of Isthmian South East by adding to their squad again this week.
The Rams continued their summer spree by announcing the signing of 22-year-old centre-back Abdul Salami from Brentwood on Friday afternoon.
The former East Thurrock and Aylesbury United man has joined Rory Smith, Ryan Johnson and Ben Wilson, as well as youth star Riley Twyman in joining the coastal outfit first-team this month.
Salami, a versatile defender who is comfortable playing both in the middle and on the right of defence, was also a former Southend United under-18 captain during his youth career.
Manager Matt Longhurst, whose side finished 18th in the division when the season was null and voided back in March, believes his newest signing will fit straight into his side’s team when football resumes again.
The former East Grinstead boss said: “Abdul is a quick and strong defender who has an old school style of play, and he has been brought up on the same ethos as most of our current group.
“I actually attempted to bring Abdul in last season but he wanted to stay loyal to Brentwood until the end of their campaign, which I respect.
“But now we have him and I’m delighted to have him on board ahead of pre-season.”
