Matt Longhurst can see his Ramsgate side evolving as they ramp up their Isthmian South East play-off push.
Rams sit third after a dominant 3-0 home win against East Grinstead on Saturday.
Josh Ajayi, Ryan Green’s own goal and a late Jamie Coyle effort gave Rams victory against the Wasps.
Boss Longhurst and his coaching staff have been implementing their methods over the course of the season and the players have taken them on board.
The manner of their win over East Grinstead - Longhurst’s former club - highlighted the strides they’ve made.
“We controlled the game from start to finish, it was very pleasing,” said the Rams manager.
“We dictated the whole game - I don’t think they had a shot on target.
“There were some very good individual performances but, as a team, we’ve been building up to where we want to be.
“That takes time in terms of the level of information we’re looking to get into the players.
“On Saturday, a lot of the stuff we’d worked on in training came out in the game.
“I’ve watched the game back and, second half, we must have had as much as 90 per cent possession.
“It was very much the game model we’re looking at in terms of dictating the play and happily having the ball.
“I don’t mean possession for the sake of it, it's possession in positions where we can gain control of the game.
“It’s all well and good talking about these things but the players are putting what we’re telling them into practice and all credit to them.
“We video training, too, I watch that back before I watch the game back and you can see the two are linked in what we’re trying to do.”
Longhurst said last week he’s building a team for the next 10 years, adding it was “frightening what could come out of this group” after their latest victory.
However, he reserved special praise for the older heads in the side - Coyle, Jerald Aboagye and Jake McIntyre.
“They’re three big players who really do hold it all together for us,” said Longhurst.
“Coyley is the best signing I’ve ever made as a manager.
“He understands the game, he carries out how we want the team to play and he’s a similar fitness to the young boys even at 38. He’s got at least another season in him.
“I sent a video to the players of Coyley winning the Conference South play-off final with Maidstone six years ago and he’s still exactly the same - he hasn’t changed a bit.
“He’s a major player in what we’re doing, on and off the pitch.
“Jerald turned 30 on Friday and Jake’s 27, and they’re also very important players.”
Ramsgate play the second of three successive home games when Lancing visit Southwood on Saturday, followed by Corinthian on Tuesday night.
Lancing have pulled clear of trouble in recent weeks and are a team Longhurst rates highly.
“They’re one of the form teams and they gave us one of our hardest games this season at their place,” said the Rams boss, who expects to welcome back forward Ashley Miller from a hamstring injury.
“We won 2-1 but we had to change it at half-time because they were giving us the runaround a little bit.
“They’re probably the only team who have passed us off the pitch at times.
“We’ll have to be at it to beat them and we’ll be doing a lot of work on them.”
