THANET council deputy leader Cllr Iris Johnston has been invited to join Sport England’s regional development team that awards grants from lottery funds. She will also be involved with the group’s sport action zones initiative and its active communities development funds.

Her first meeting is at Sport England’s offices in Faversham on December 18. Cllr Johnston is also Thanet’s cabinet member for tourism and leisure.
