Two-goal hero Joe Taylor believes it was Margate's superior workrate that gave them the edge in Saturday's 2-1 home win over Enfield.
The result, Margate's first home win in the league since the opening day of the Bostik Premier season, also signalled the end of Enfield's unbeaten start.
Taylor, who moved to Hartsdown from Folkestone Invicta in the summer, opened the scoring with a first-half penalty before producing a cool lobbed finish 15 minutes from time.
The striker said: "They're a good side, a really good side, one of the best we’ve played against this season actually and our work rate won it for us.
“It’s been up and down from the team and myself personally, and that’s what the managers identified, but our work rate was the best we’ve produced this season."
Taylor's double against Enfield took his season's tally to seven and he was quick to pay tribute to his team-mates.
He added: “I think it’s down to the quality of the players I’m playing with this year. The ball from Tom Mills for my second goal was brilliant."
One big plus for Margate was the form of substitute Alex Flisher who got another half-an-hour under his belt after his recent return from a knee injury.
The former Maidstone man felt the Gate were worth their win saying that they should take a lot of heart from their display.
He said: “They were two good finishes from Joe, a great penalty and the second goal was a great finish.
“Before the game, Mike (joint boss Mike Sandmann), said we’ve only let in two goals in four games so just keep it tight at the back and with the squad that we’ve got, we’ve got enough players on the pitch to score goals and that’s what we did.
“Apart from the goal and a late save from Henry (Gate keeper Henry Newcombe), I don’t think they troubled us too much.
“They’re a team that were near the top and we’ve gone out and dominated most of the game.
"They never troubled us so from that we can take that and believe we can dominate other teams.
"It’s hard when teams come and sit behind the ball and you’ve got to try and break them down, but they came and had a go at us which gave us more space and made it a bit easier.”
