Margate boss Steve Watt has been reunited with former team-mate Lenny Pidgeley.
Goalkeeper Pidgeley has moved to Hartsdown Park on a one-year deal, and is the club's third signing in the week, following the capture of former loan pair Dave Martin and Vas Karagiannis.
Pidgeley joins from Watt's former club Hastings, but Watt says the pair go back a long way.
Watt said: "Lenny and I have been good friends since I was at Chelsea at the age of 13, and he was the year above me."
Twickenham based Pidgeley progressed at Stamford Bridge to become understudy to Carlo Cudicini.
He then moved to Millwall, Bradford City, Exeter City and Mansfield, before joining National League side Forest Green Rovers, and was in the side beaten by Grimsby in the National League play-off final defeat 12 months ago.
Spells at Leatherhead and Hastings followed, with the pair playing under former boss Darren Hare who left the Sussex club earlier this week.
Watt is pleased to get much of his transfer business done early.
He said: "I didn't want to hang about and wanted to get things done early, to make sure the supporters know things are happening, and that there are good times ahead at the club."
