A REWARD of up to £2million was announced today for information leading to the recovery of the stolen cash and arrest and conviction of the robbers involved in the raid on the Tonbridge Securitas depot on Wednesday.

The money has been put up by Securitas and its insurers as detectives sift through evidence at the depot, on CCTV footage and linked to the kidnap of the depot manager Colin Dixon, his wife Lynn and their eight-year-old son.

It is thought the robbers could have esacped with as much as £40 million but no official figure has yet been revealed.

Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Leppard said today: “This reward is being offered because we know that someone out there will have seen or heard information that could be vital to our investigation, or they suspect who could be responsible.

“It may be that people involved in crime know something and we would urge them to come forward. This is a significant reward, which reflects the serious nature of this robbery.

"It is important to remember that this is a dangerous armed gang, which put a young family, including an eight-year-old boy, and 14 staff at the depot through a terrifying ordeal.”

A total of 100 officers and staff, including Kent’s most experienced detectives, are now working on this inquiry. Officers are still seeking information about the vehicles involved, a white Renault lorry, a Volvo saloon and another saloon car, used during the kidnappings and robbery.

Mr Dixon's silver Nissan Almera car, registration WP52 KPV, which was left on a layby on the A249 near the Three Squirrels pub near Stockbury, is still missing. It is thought this was taken by a member of the gang after the manager was abducted.

ACC Leppard said: "We are particularly keen to speak with anyone who saw a saloon car carrying a woman with a young boy anywhere between Herne Bay and the Tonbridge depot on Tuesday night or the early hours of Wednesday.’
