They have been released on bail until December 15 while investigations continue.

Sgt Roy Haffenden said: "Due to the vigilance of a member of the public and local knowledge of police officers we were able to act swiftly and make two arrests and we are now in the process of identifying the owners of the vehicles involved.

"We would encourage anyone who has any information about this incident to make contact as we continue to gather evidence while those arrested are on bail."
