Two Kent towns could hold the secrets behind a mother's disappearance more than 20 years ago.

Marion Barter went missing after travelling around Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells in 1997.

Sally Leydon, Marion's Daughter told KMTV: "She stayed in a hotel there she said she was having tea with some little old ladies.

"The last time I spoke to her on the phone she was in Tunbridge Wells and having a lovely time exploring is what she told me."

Ms Barter had travelled to the UK after divorcing Australian football legend Johnny Warren.

Her story has received worldwide attention since Australian news 7 News launched The Lady Vanishes, a podcast discussing the mystery of her disappearance.

Before she went missing the 52-year-old changed her name to Florabella Natalia Marion Remakel and around $300,000 (£167,794) was siphoned from her bank account.

Journalists are hoping postcards she sent home from Tonbridge could help shed light on the mystery.

Bryan Seymour, reporter for The Lady Vanishes podcast said: "There's possibility of lifting DNA from those postcards, we're hoping that will help us determine whether Marion handled those cards or not. If she didn't of course that's a big red flag that someone else was involved in her disappearance.

"Tonbridge could be crucial to solving the mystery of what happened to Marion Barter."

"There's always the chance that Marion stayed in Tonbridge or around that area and started a new life, that's one possibility.

"We're hoping someone in Tonbridge has that vital clue that will help us solve the mystery of The Lady Vanishes."

More than four million people have listened to 7News' podcast and since it was released Ms Barter has been placed on the Missing Persons Register.
