A couple have been barred from keeping animals for five years after their goat was found starved to death and their dog tied up, in a poor state of health.
David, 42, and Louise Raggett, 56, both of no fixed abode, were found guilty of animal welfare offences at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court yesterday.
As well as the ban, both were made to pay £500 costs; Mr Raggett was given a community order of 150 hours of unpaid work, and Mrs Raggett a conditional discharge for three years.
The goat, a tan adult named Lily, was found dead on Dislington Farm in Half Moon Lane in Tudeley in May 2013.
A post-mortem found that she had starved to death.
A female american bulldog named Missy was nearby, tied to a tree, with no access to a kennel or food or water.
There was also some underweight ducks found with no access to water for drinking or bathing.
RSPCA inspector Andrew Kirby said: "These animals were simply not being cared for in the most basic ways.
“Lily the goat undoubtedly died a horrible death full of suffering, which could have been prevented with a little bit of care.
“Missy the dog was in a miserable state - tied to a tree with none of her needs being catered for.
“It is important for all pet owners to remember they have a duty of care towards their animals. It is up to them to take them to a vet if they are unwell and provide them with what they need to be happy and healthy.”
