Dozens of estate agents are preparing to hold an election-themed cake and coffee morning as voters go to the polls next week.
Howard Cundey Estate Agents and Chartered Surveyor employees will hold the annual fundraising event for Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance at the firm's offices across the county - including Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Edenbridge.
Clients, customers and passers-by on their way to the polling stations are invited to call in for coffee and cake in return for a donation to the lifesaving charity.
It relies almost entirely upon the generosity of the public to support the service.
Senior partner at Howard Cundey, Tim Foulkes said: “This year's cake and coffee morning is extra special because the air ambulance is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
“We have chosen to have it on the day of the Election so we will have cakes of all colours to represent the various political parties for people to vote for their favourite cake."
Howard Cundey is supporting the air ambulance for a third year and staff its Reigate office recently visited the Redhill base to present a cheque for last year’s fundraising total.
They won a tour of the helicopter base after being voted Community Champions in the firm’s Pride in our People Awards and they watched as the helicopter took off when it was called to a road traffic collision.
Each callout costs about £2,500 so the substantial sum of £8,506 raised in 2014 will help fund three potentially lifesaving missions.
The funds were raised from the cake and coffee morning, a sponsored skydive at Headcorn Airfield and an auction including tickets to The Graham Norton Show and comedienne Miranda Hart.
Howard Cundey is again sponsoring the air ambulance’s Double 100 Cycle Challenge – a 100-mile of 100km bike ride which starts and finishes at the helicopter bases – and cyclists are being urged to sign up now.
