A kitchen fire started in Tonbridge after a man had fallen asleep while cooking.
Neighbours raised the alarm after smoke was seen coming from the house, in Pembury Grove just after 11pm yesterday.
A spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the fire is thought to have started when cooking was left unattended.
The home was filled with smoke and firefighters were at the scene until 11.50pm.
The man was treated at the scene for the effects of breathing in smoke, but is not thought to have been seriously injured.
