Trains have been cancelled because of a landslip caused by heavy rain.
Network Rail has closed the line between Tonbridge and Redhill in both directions after the incident on Sunday afternoon.
A bus replacement service is running in place of trains and this will continue on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Fiona Taylor, routdirectoror for Kent said "A significant earthworks failure near Godstone, affecting the Tonbridge to Redhill line, means that in the interest of safety we have had to take the difficult decision to close the line in both directions for the foreseeable future.
"A team of specialist engineers has been on-site since midday assessing the situation and drawing up plans to fix the problem.
“The significant amount of rainfall over the last five days has had a huge impact on the railway and this was the case here on the line near Godstone.
"I am extremely sorry for the disruption this will cause to passengers over the festive period and we will issue a further update just as soon as we’ve finalised plans for fixing the landslip, so that passengers are able to plan ahead.”
