Man charged with causing thousands of pounds of damage at Paddock Wood station, near Tonbridge

A man has been charged after thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to windows at a railway station.

British Transport Police were told of the incident inside Paddock Wood station, near Tonbridge on Christmas Day.

The next day, it is reported a man returned and broke into the station building through the broken window and committed further criminal damage.

A BTP spokesman said: "On both occasions the male had trespassed to get ballast from the tracks to aid him in his rampage of damage".

A man has since been charged with two counts of criminal damage, two counts of trespass and one count of burglary with intent to cause criminal damage.

He is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
