A man accused of spitting in a police officer's eye has been charged.
Police were called to Martin Hardie Way in Tonbridge on Wednesday, following reports of a disturbance.
Ismail Jaffari was arrested for public order offences, during which it is alleged he assaulted one of the officers.
After he was taken into custody at Tonbridge police station, he reportedly spat in an officer’s eye and also spat on another officer’s uniform.
The 28-year-old of Royal West Kent Avenue, Tonbridge, was later charged with three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
He was further charged with being drunk and disorderly, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and with causing criminal damage, in relation to damage caused to a police vehicle.
Mr Jaffari is bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on August 3.
