Stolen moped and motorbike "driven into pedestrians" recovered by police in Hadlow, Tonbridge

A moped and a motorbike that were "driven into pedestrians" after being stolen have been recovered by police.

In a tweet, Kent Police Tunbridge and Malling said: "Police Community Support Officers have seized a stolen moped and motorbike from Hadlow following reports of them driving into pedestrians #TwoUnhappyJoyRiders."

It comes as officers in Gillingham spotted two teenagers believed to be in the process of trying to steal a moped.

The offenders made a run for it but were quickly caught and arrested.

Police in Medway say they are pro-actively targeting those looking to steal mopeds and motorbikes after a spate of recent incidents.

A top-level public meeting was called to crackdown on motorbike thefts which have reached "epidemic" levels.

Statistics reveal that the number of bikes being stolen in the Medway and north Kent area was now ranked as among the highest in the country.
