The Queen's Baton Relay will start its journey across Kent from Tonbridge Castle tomorrow morning

The Queen's Baton Relay will start the Kent leg of its journey early tomorrow morning.

The baton will make a total of 5 stops across the county, with Kent athletes Lizzy Yarnold, Millie Knight and Dame Kelly Holmes being among those carrying the baton.

The Baton's first stop will be at Tonbridge Castle at 8.00am.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council along with local schools have organised a range of exciting activities including the Commonwealth Dance, Song and Orchestra music which are to take place during the Baton's time at the castle.

The Baton is planned to leave Tonbridge Castle at, or just before 9.30am, however, activities will continue at the Castle for the public for the rest of the morning.

The Baton will arrive at Dartford Athletics Track at 10.30am, when activities will be carried out interacting the Baton with the school children.

Herne Bay High School will be the Baton's third stop, arriving at 1.00pm. There will be the chance for students and participants to try their hand at roller skating/dance and plenty of other exciting activities!

Staff, volunteers and children will be arriving at Pent Valley School in Folkestone ready for the Baton's arrival at 2.45pm.

The Baton will make its fifth and final stop in County Hall, Maidstone between 4.00 and 4.15pm at the latest. A more formal ceremony will take place including significant dignitaries such as Minister for Sport, Helen Grant, and the Lord Lieutenant of Kent.

The Commonwealth Games takes place in Glasgow from Wednesday July 23rd to Sunday August 3rd.
