A man was spotted loitering outside a woman's bedroom window on Monday.
Alex Pretorius woke up at 4.30am to see the figure, described as 5ft 6ins and wearing a black coat with a bright yellow JD Sports bag, lurking in her front garden.
Police were called to her house in Orchard Drive, Tonbridge, at 9am that morning and advised her on security measures.
No further action was taken as no offence had been committed.
Mrs Pretorius took to social media to warn residents to stay vigilant following the incident.
She said she could see the man looking at her front door but that apart from trespassing he was not committing any other crimes.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 9.03am on Monday to a report of suspicious behaviour outside an address in Orchard Drive, Tonbridge. A woman reported a man had been standing in her front garden at 4.30am and looking into her property. No offences have been recorded, but the woman was given advice around home security.
"Residents are reminded of the steps they can take to reduce the chances of being a victim of crime. When you go to bed at night use door chains and make sure you don’t leave any keys, purses or valuables near doors or windows, where they can be seen and reached. Close all windows and double lock doors if you’re able to do so. Remember, if a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-urgent crime reporting or to make an enquiry, call 101."
