The redevelopment of a retail park in Tonbridge has received a boost after the borough council approved plans to extend the former B&Q building.

The hardware giant left the 3,577 sq m 'unit 1' in May, with neighbours Halfords still trading in 'unit 2' on the Cannon Lane site.

Planning permission had already been granted to divide unit 2 into two stores, which will be occupied by the current tenant and an M&S Foodhall but now developer LondonMetric Saturn can surge ahead with plans to divide unit 1 into five stores.

So far Costa have signed up to the scheme and will occupy the smallest of the five, a 139 sq m plot which will be built to the left of the current building.

Go Outdoors is the latest retailer to be unveiled and will take up a spot in the biggest unit, which stands at 2,500 sq m, while Home Bargains will move in to an extended 1,594 sq m store to the right

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council this week green lighted the division plan and a linked application to improve parking and pedestrian access to the site.
