Two suspected shoplifters have been charged after multiple meat products and bike chains were reported stolen from two retail giants.
Police were called at Tonbridge Retail Park in Cannon Lane yesterday (March 18) following reports of suspicious activity.
Officers seized food and perfume following a search of a vehicle shortly afterwards.
Gary Bartrup, of Marlescroft Way, Loughton, Essex, and Peter Tough, of Burden Way, Aldersbrook, Greater London, were arrested and taken into custody.
They were then charged on suspicion of the theft of multiple meat products from Iceland’s The Food Warehouse.
Tough, 62, was also charged with the theft of bike chains worth more than £140 from Halfords, plus the theft of alcohol and food from a petrol station in Chelmsford, Essex, valued at £335, on January 25.
Meanwhile, Bartrup, 58, was charged with a further two counts of theft of alcohol and food worth almost £500 from petrol stations in Chelmsford, Essex on January 25 and February 1.
Both men were conditionally bailed to a hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on April 3.
