Two teenage girls have been charged after a leisure centre worker was spat at and a woman assaulted.

The suspects were arrested following an initial disturbance at the Angel Centre in Tonbridge.

It is alleged a member of staff was spat at and a glass door was damaged following the incident on June 8.

The teenagers are then accused of committing further offences in Quarry Hill Road, where a phone was stolen from a woman who was assaulted and had a drink poured over her head.

With the help of CCTV images, officers identified the suspects at the nearby train station where it is further alleged two constables were assaulted as they were being arrested.

A 15-year-old girl was later charged with three counts of assault, theft and causing criminal damage.

The other girl, 13, was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

They were both bailed with conditions to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on July 13.
