A woman who died after she was found lying in the central reservation of the A21 has been named.

Janet Simpson was found beneath a footbridge running over the Tonbridge Bypass on Friday, November 20.

The 61-year-old was suffering from cardiac arrest and serious injuries when paramedics arrived, just before 4.30am, and was pronounced dead at the scene around an hour later.

Queues built around the area and tailed back to the M25 until the northbound carriageway was fully re-opened at 9.30am. The southbound stretch was opened just after 10am.

It was initially shut in both directions between Morley's roundabout and Vauxhall roundabout.

Several roads throughout Tonbridge and Hildenborough areas faced delays for several hours after the incident.

A Kent Police spokesman said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

An inquest into Miss Simpson's death opened at North West Coroner's Court this week.

Medical cause of death was given as multiple injuries and a full inquest has been set for Wednesday, January 16.
